What is Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy?

Naturopathic nutrition stresses the use of whole and organic foods as medicine.  As nutritional therapists we do not diagnose, but are looking to support and enhance your health and wellbeing to help you reach your optimal health.

Nutritional therapy provides support to improve; unbalanced energy levels, blood sugar regulation, digestive wellbeing, hormone imbalances, allergies, sleep issues and other health problems, including support of chronic illnesses.

As a naturopathic practitioner I identify ways to prevent illness and assess the causes of disease. I provide therapeutic protocols to address root causes rather than just symptoms and look at both nutrition and lifestyle with my clients. Nutrition is a complementary therapy and can be used alongside conventional medicine.

How does a consultation work?

First things first:

Prior to your initial appointment I will send you a health questionnaire and a week’s diet diary form for you to complete and email back to me.  I also offer a brief phone conversation to get a better idea of what would suit you best with regards appointment style.  Some will suit 'pure' nutritional therapy advice and others may benefit from some more practical and emotional support for changes of eating behaviours.

- I will also ask you to bring with the following with you:

1) Details of your measurements (height in cm, weight in kg and waist and hips in inches)

2) Details of any medication or supplements you are currently taking.

3) Results of any tests you have recently had done.

The consultation itself:

An initial consultation takes up to 1.5 hours.  We will discuss your current concerns and any presenting symptom or symptoms (maximum two in the initial appointment), aims, lifestyle and diet.  I will then make you a plan and have this with you within 2 working days of your appointment.

Subsequent appointments are charged at an hourly rate and can be anything from 15-90 minutes long depending on what is appropriate and/or needed.

What will be in my nutrition plan?

* A clear list of dietary and lifestyle changes and suggestions for you to follow.

* Any relevant handouts of further information to enable further understanding and implicating of changes.

* Details of any supplements I recommend you take and where they can be bought from. Supplements are not included in the price of the consultation.

How many appointments will I need?

All clients will have a minimum of two appointments (to allow a follow up on progress etc)

I will discuss with you at your initial consultation what I think the best course of action may be.  The Understanding your Eating program consists of four hour long sessions.

Will there be any additional costs?

As mentioned above, supplements are not included in the price of the consultation. As a rule,  I prefer to work therapeutically with food in it's natural form and will only recommend supplements if there are any significant deficiencies that need addressing more acutely.

It may be appropriate for me to suggest further testing in certain situations. Some tests are not freely available on the NHS but many can be arranged through your GP, who with your permission, I may make contact with should I feel it is relevant or necessary to do so.

Where will my consultation take place?

I am based in North London, N10. Initial appointments can be in person either at my home or by Skype if that is not possible.
